Chances are, if you are reading this post, you have a new family member on the way. Congratulations! There are few things in life as exciting (and nerve-wracking!) as finding out you are going to be a parent or a parent again.
While your new child will bring so many incredible life events, one of the first memorable moments in this journey is telling your loved ones that your family is growing. I will always remember my husband's reaction and our parent's reactions to the exciting news.
However you tell your fam will be an incredible core-memory moment, but here are four things that can make your moment even *more* special.
- Think outside the box and use a creative announcement: Telling your loved ones that your family is expanding will be a moment that will only happen a few times in your life. Why not make it uniquely you? Is there a holiday around the time you are telling your family or expecting? Could you find a clever way to incorporate that into your announcement? What are your passions? Do you love reading, baking, playing sports, traveling, or rescuing animals? Is there a way you could customize your pregnancy or adoption announcement to line up with the things that make you, you?
- Add a personal touch for the recipient(s): It goes without saying that this is an exciting time for you and your partner, but it likely is also a very exciting time for those who love you. That's why tailoring your announcement to the recipients can make this moment all the more sweet. Will your new little one have special names for their grandparents? Or their honorary aunts and uncles? Include them in your news. Maybe it is as simple as writing "Papa" or "Nana" on the front of a card, or perhaps it is more involved. No matter how you execute, I know your family and friends will be touched.
- Provide tangible keepsakes or memorabilia: There is no doubt that you will be creating memories when you break the news. How fun would it be to have keepsakes as a tangible reminder for you and your loved ones of this moment?! Ultrasound images, mugs, baby clothes, or cards are just a few of the most common items that can serve as cherished reminders of this time in your life.
- Make it a special event: One of the best things about these big life moments is being surrounded by all the people who love and care about you. It doesn't happen often enough in our busy world. So, as long as you have everyone together, make it an event! Order some food in (or keep it far, far, away if you are feeling extra nauseous) and spend some time daydreaming about this next chapter of your lives with the people who mean the most to you. You may even get some good ideas for baby names, get some funny stories about you or your partner as babies, or learn what to do or not do when it comes to parenting.
- *Bonus* Bring Tissues! Such an exciting life event can come with many emotions, so it is best to be prepared. Happy tears are definitely a thing in times like these.
Pregnancy and adoption announcements are an extraordinary moment for you and your partner and those who love you, and however it comes together, it is guaranteed to be memorable.
HeirLine Tickets, Travel-Themed Pregnancy and Adoption Announcements
Here at WNDR Publishing, we think travel makes everything better, and our HeirLine Tickets are a fun, unique, and travel-inspired way to tell your people that you have a new little adventurer on the way. And, lucky for you, our punny twist on airplane tickets check off the boxes of three of the four suggestions above.
✅ Telling your partner or parents that you are pregnant or adopting with a fake boarding pass is definitely creative. We used HeirLine Tickets to tell our parents we were pregnant several years ago. When we saw them, we told them we were planning a trip for later in the year and wanted them to join us. Then we gave them their tickets.
✅ Since each ticket is fully customizable (you can even create your own HeirLine name using baby's last name), you can tailor each for the recipient. More than that, the tickets have been designed for each line to include a nod to travel and to the new traveler in your crew.
Tell your partner they will be traveling From: Husband To: Daddy and let him know the logistics of the trip with things like the Flight Number: a combination of the HeirLine name and the due date or gotcha date; the Flight Date: baby's due date or gotcha date; Flight Time: TBA; Gate: the hospital, state, or country where baby will be born, or adopted from; and Seat: likely the front row.
✅ The tickets we gave our parents back in early 2021 still hang on their fridge. We also still have copies of the tickets we printed off for everyone. When our daughter is old enough, it will be such a fabulous memento to show and tell her how excited her grandparents were to meet her.
Now, the tickets aren't able to throw a party on their own, and I wouldn't recommend using them as tissues, but aside from that, we think they make an incredible way to tell your loved ones that a new wonder of the world is coming soon.
We would be honored to play a small role in your special moment. Find your HeirLine Tickets here, and congratulations again! Let the adventure begin!
